ApplicationExperience

One of my complaints about OOPSLA is that for ALL of its twenty years, the "A" has been ignored. The "A" stands for "applications".

I would like to have a track that focuses on applications.

The practitioner reports could, but usually don't. They

generally focus on one particular idea, which tends to be a computer science idea rather than an application.

I'd like to have a set of talks that describes the requirements

and design of an application and some of the lessons learned

by building it. These should be stories more than scientific

presentations. Although the speaker will have points to make, listeners will have lots of opportunity to make their own points.

I'm going to describe three examples of systems that I think would make good application experiences.

Do you think this is a good idea? If so, do you have suggestions for other applications?
