I have been involved with OOPSLA for many years - I started as the Student Volunteer Chair in 1992 and slowly worked my way up the hierarchy to overall chair in 1998. I think I've done every one of the committee jobs so I claim to have a pretty clear picture of what OOPSLA is/was and how it works.

I left the OOPSLA-fold a few years ago because I was disappointed in the direction the ACM was taking the conference. Thus I'm pleased to be asked to offer my opinions on the future of the conference.

For a career, I am currently a Research Scientist with the Center for Urban Simulation and Policy Analysis (http://www.urbansim.org) at the University of Washington, Seattle.
