DiscountsForMultipleAttendees

Some organizations send only one person to a conference, because they don't see the value of sending more. If we tried to arrange the schedule to somewhat overlap related sessionsworkshopstutorials and also had a discount for multiple attendees from the same organization, perhaps we could reap some added attendance.

But this requires some calculation or simulation. We already have a lot of attendees from Sun, IBM, et al. They would have shown up anyway, so the discount for them is "money left on the table," as capitalists always say. But, there are organizations that send only 1 that might send many, and the big fellas might send more if there were a discount (or even a discout curve that never stops).

We could maybe connect this with TechnologyEmergencyRoom so that an organization that send n people could get n times more time with a consultant.

Can someone figure out if/when this would work? -rpg

A small-conference organiser in the UK used to use this approach, marketing directly to companies and offering them discounts on multiple attendance. However, he could afford to do this (1) because he was more a salesman than a geek, so that was his main competence, and (2) the numbers were small (up to 100), so he didn't need to have a consistent, web bookable model, relying instead on a more direct relationship with the companies targeted.
