I was OOPSLA Conference Chair in 2003. In several ways, it may be my fault that we have to have this discussion. I was largely unsuccessful in getting any interesting ideas injected into the OOPSLA community, largely because it's become a community of InsidersAndOutsiders, bureaucratic, slow, stodgy, entrenched, inbred, and with an EntitlementMentality. The best I can take credit for is encouraging RichardGabriel to continue with the Onward! track...Much like RonJeffries, I'm an early adopter that is very interested in making OOPSLA the ``place for new ideas'' that it used to be.
