Extravagaria Workshop Wiki

I half-read books for a living, and half-write them.

While my academic background is in computer science and writing, I am primarily a software guy, predominantly in consulting. I believe there are similarities in the way I approach writing fiction and the way I approach software, and while I can't say these two sides of my life have had major influences on one another, if they have I'd like to be the first to know.

One aspect I find interesting regards the importance (or unimportance) of editing, and knowing when and when not to edit a work in progress. I find myself constantly editing myself as I write code (alone or pairing), but feel that I have started to over-edit my writing, which has created a bit of a stumbling block from time to time. I wonder occasionally what benefits there might be to editing myself less as I code, or is it just within the nature of programming to always edit?

2005 - Planning on attending OOPSLA this year. I'm also planning to keep a few notes up for those who suggested I blog.
