We may not have a well-founded way to create an ordering, but the evaluation and feedback on orderings are available. so just pick one: it will be ridiculous. A subsequent one will be perfect.
Dick gave a story of how the first time he had to make a collection of stories, he asked how to pick an ordering and his mentor told him "Just pick one and give it to me." The mentor then said "that is all wrong" and Dick went back and tried again. The mentor then said "that is perfect".The second time Dick had to make a collection of stories, the same thing happened, only with a different mentor. Disk implied that the lesson was that doing it twice produced a better result. I (Ralph) thought that maybe this was a pattern that poetry gurus used to get students to make reaonable orderings.
