LearningByReading

I read this in Ted Kooser's book, "The Poetry Home Repair Manual":

Every poet learns to write by imitation, just as every painter learns to paint by looking at paintings. Every composer learns to write music by studying the music of other composers.

...We teach ourselves the kinds of poems we like to read. The more poems you read, and the more models you learn from and imitatem the better your writing will get. After you have read lots of poetry and written lots of poetry, your own work will become more accomplished and more your own....

Do we learn to write and develop software the same way?

Do we lerarn how to be creative the same way?
